Hiking Utah Trails

Hiking Utah Trails can be as easy or as difficult as you want, most of all it is certainly rewarding.  If you are looking for trails to hike in Utah, then Off Road Utah is the place for you.  Utah has a wide variety of trails to choose from, however, I will be sharing my adventures of the trails that I take.  Of course, I won’t be able to get to all the trails in Utah, so I welcome your comments and experiences.

First of all, if you are hiking utah trails, here are a few tips to ensure you remain safe, healthy and above enjoy the trip (listed in no particular order):

  • Learn the trail – Take some time to get familiar with where you are going by read an online review of the trail that you going to hike or talk to a friend or two about the trail.  I personally use Google Earth because I can view the terrain. And of course, visit Off Road Utah and see if we’ve reviewed the trail already.
  • Have the right Gear – This will depend largely on the type of hiking you have decided to do.  If you are looking to hike deep into the mountains for an over-nighter, then you will need much more gear than an individual just looking to take an afternoon stroll.  Whatever the case, be sure you have the right gear.
  • Tell someone where you are going – This is especially important if you are hiking utah trails alone.  It’s always great to go hiking with a friend but even if you do, make you sure you let someone know when you are going and when they can expect you to be back.
  • Plan – This is a simple suggestion that many overlook.  Don’t leave 2 hours before nightfall, on a 5 hr hike, especially if you have not made prior arrangements.
  • Take plenty of water – Again, simple but overlooked by many.  Although we have plenty of mountains, Utah is a desert and it gets hot.  If you are planning an all day hike you will probably need more water  than if you are going on an afternoon jog, however, plan accordingly.  I invested about $30 on a water-pak and it’s been of the best investments for hiking utah trails.
  • Enjoy yourself – Whether you a beginner or a hiker of many years, enjoy yourself.  Don’t feel like you have to run every trail or even get to the end of every trail.  Just get outdoors and enjoy hiking utah trails, like many of us already do.

If you have a suggestion for a trail for us to try or an experience you would like to share, you may send an email to Off Road Utah Admin.  We would be happy to review it and share it with the everyone else.  And who knows, maybe we’ll see out on a trail.  Until then, visit us often and enjoy hiking Utah trails!
